What Is This?

Hi to all.

just got a new tank, and it came with some fish have managed to i.d them all except this one.

weisel said it could be a syno by my description that i sent him (thanks weisel) but couldnt be sure.

Have just got the hang of piccys (i hope) so can anyone i.d what I have here thanks.

He is quite chunky and about 4-5 inches long

Looks like Synodontis Eupterus to me.

yep commonly known as the threadfin synodontis. they can get around 8" usualy. ive seen some bigger but not too many.

I googled Synodontis Eupterus and thats definatly him.

It did say they can be prone to aggression but I havent noticed any. He/she has been very shy and hiding ive bearly seen him, new tank been set up 10 days now (rio 180) but he has started to come out of his rock volcano hidy hole in the last 2 days and has been swimming round the tank a bit more.

He schools and lives with the clown loaches, who again ive hardly seen since I got the tank, but have just started to venture out a little more.

Is there any specfic care needs that I need to take into consideration with this fella ive done no research, one because he came with the tank, and two because I didnt know what I had.

Also wasnt going to keep him as wasnt sure if I could due to tank size and co-inhabitants so any feedback on that would be wellcome.
