Anyone know what this white stuff/dots is on my floating water sprite plant? It is right at the surface, appearing to float on the surface of the water atop my water sprite. Photos attached.

This tank is 38gal freshwater, contains diamond tetras, bronzecories, pepper cories, BN pleco and a ramshorn snail. Also all live plants and driftwood.

It honestly looks like snail eggs. Ramshorn can asexually reproduce. If you see them in other spots on the tank then its definitely snail eggs. Just a warning if it is, they can get out of control really quickly so keep an eye on it.

Snail eggs are usually encased in a clear jelly. The white stuff looks more like bits of polystyrene ????

Agreed that the white stuff on water surface looks more like broken bits of polystyrene. Perhaps from the packing of your tank or filter from the box or something like that.

Pond snail eggs looks like this, small inverted C shaped clear jelly like substance to the right of thermometer in middle of picture. They lay eggs like this on just about any surface they can, glass, plants leaves, decor and wood etc.

So weird it’s gone this morning! My tank has been setup since June so weird that something would pop up like styrafoam now. I did do a 50% water change the day before so maybe it stirred something up. Weird!

It is rather odd it has to be said, not seen anything quite like that before.

Hopefully just a little glitch and won’t come back again and as long as livestock in tank are not affected or anything like that, then just touch wood it will be left at that.
