I have recently noticed that I have that green stringy algae growing in certain places in my tank ...
about the same time I also noticed these little white "blooms??" on the glass, rocks & other decor in the tank.
The best way to describe it is they kinda look like parachutes swaying with the current & are very tiny.
The fish don't seem to be affected by it but I would like to know what it is and can it be a bad thing??
Also I doubt it is any connection with the green hair algae but I thought I would mention it.
Thanks for any input

P.S. I forgot to mention that these little white blooms are also on some of my live plant leaves too around the lower parts.

I had something similar i think - about 4mm tall? like very small trees but all white? i had them when cycling but they disspaeared shortly afterwards and and never seen them since. As to what they are i have'nt a clue... :dunno:

As for the string algae I had the same problem. Reducing light will have an intial effect (maybe floating plants?). After that get a few Rosie Barbs to keep on top of it.

Thanks,
Does anybody else know what this might be or have had it too??
so far it don't seem to affect the fish but I want to be safe then sorry

Sounds like brush algae. Take a look at this link to help identify the algae Algae pics

They are difficult to get rid of but some remedies are also shown on the same link.

Nope, not hydra & it is not brush algae either :/

It is white & moves with the water flow like little teeny tiny parachutes... they are about as big as this letter "P"
