What Is This Fish?

its not a pacu so thats a relief! ive never seen another one in my local aquariums - had the little chap for 4 years without knowing what he is!!! he's so cute though but scared of his own shadow!!

Comeone everyone has been way off the mark so far however the pacu is the closest, as for a gourami thats way out the fish in the pic has a adipose fin so is a characin family. How ever it's an African characin coming from the Congo area.

Wow! I didn't know they became that dark when they were larger! I've only seen smaller ones. Thanks for finally figuring it out!
