most plants in my tank grows very well. the light is good, the CO2 is pressureised, dose regularly.

but i noticed some plants the top part grow very well, very fast.
However, the bottom part of plants, esp the stem near the gravel begin to turn black and rotten.

sometimes i cut some fast grow plants into half, and plant it again, but i noticed they soon began rotten,
if i do not cut them, they will go very tall and very fast.

so, why is that? does that mean they have difficult to root in the gravel?

I get this with my anacharis and cabomba. No idea why it happens. I've been told that they're "primarily" supposed to be floating plants, but I see the same thing happening even when I let my fish uproot them and let them float.

I'd love to know why it happens though, and/or how to prevent it.
