I have been thinking about breeding pearl goruamis and i was wondering the best way to sell the fry once they reach the appropiate age.

Can any of you help me?

Hi Squidman ;)

You are doing the right thing by thinking about how you will get rid of the fry before you actually breed them.

There are several ways to go with this. First, if you belong to a local aquarium society, you can sell or trade them for other fish with the members. Or, you can talk to the manager or owner of your lfs to see if they buy fish from their customers. Often it turns out that the independent lfs might buy them, but the chain stores do not. The third way is to try to sell them online, but this involves shipping arrangements, etc. and is a lot of work.

Whatever you do, most hobbyists raise fish for fun, not for profit. Even if they don't plan it that way, it's expensive to buy the equipment and foods necessary to breed healthy fish.

I will see if my brother will want any since he keeps fish as well or any other people i know and if i cant give away enough maybe i will be able to give them away online. The problem though about online is i would have to mail them and i believe that mailing them will kill the fry or damage them some how.

I breed pearls and have no problem at all selling them on aquabid.
Selling online isnt any more work than bagging up the fish and trading them into the fish store.

Just look on aquabid and do alittle reasearch into shipping fish. Remeber almost any fish you got has been shipped plenty of times, its not a big deal if you do it right.

Oh and also, although I agree with Inchworm about not doing it for profit, dont let people tell you its impossible. This isnt to say it will support all your finances, but I make enough money selling fish on aquabid to cover all my running costs and have some extra spending money for beer, gas, and food too. Its not like your trying to live your whole life by selling fish.

Edit-PM me if you want any help or advice selling fish online and how to ship them. I can show you some examples and good links that would help, just let me know.
