What Is The Best Power Filter?

i have a 55 gal tank and the whisper filter i have on it now is not doing the job. i was thinking about getting a penguin 350b power filter but ive seen some bad reviews i just wanted to know what the best filter is in your opinion. and what do you think of the penguin filter. thanks for all the help.

Go with an Aqua Clear 70. I've tried to kill these things, seriously, really tried. Durable, with flexibility of media usually found only in canister filters.

I actually like my Penguin. I have a Penguin 200 and an AC 30 on my 29 gallon.

I also have an Emperor 400 and Whisper 60 on my 55 gallon (fishless cycle in progress).


One thing I don't like about the Penguin is that it does not come with a blank media basket like the Emperor comes with. I also am having a hard time tracking one down.

+2 i have it in my 55, and i'll take off the aqueon that came with the kit.

AC70 or the Emperor 400 would be my choice.
