What Is That Website That Lets You Stock Your Tank Online

I have been to Think Fish and made up some stocking scenerios. I definitely wouldn't trust them. Their stocking levels are way out of line in my opinion. For instance, in a standard 29 gallon tank (18"x12"x18"), their stocking calculator says that 20 black phantom tetras, 20 zebra danios and 10 corys is a legitimate stocking scheme with normal filtration. To me that is terribly overstocked for a beginner, who is most likely the one to be using this site. When I changed it to an oversize external filter, te quantities can go up to 12 corys, 25 tetras and 22 danios. To me that is just too many fish to allow adaquate swimming room even if the filter and maintenance schedule is adaquate.

Lots of fish missing from that website. Just in the few minutes that i searched for fish I could not find African Butterfly, peacock eel, or opaline gourami.

I just ran the stock for my 75 gallon tank and I have got to take out a loan for all the extra fish I need to buy. Below is the stock list it says is fully stocked:

60 - Black Phantom Tetras
30 - Corys
8 - Angelfish
8 - Bolivian rams
6 - Siamese Algae Eaters
6 - Clown Loaches

That's just way too many fish. In inchesof adult fish, it's over 300 Now I realize that the 1" per gallon guide is simply that and mainly to help newbies get their feet wet but 4" per gallon is heavy for even the most experienced person. It would look like a holding tank at the fish store. And I don't think I would have any room for plants

Yeah. I would say its a good site but cut the suggested stocking level at least in half.

It told me I could have 59 inches, in my 20 gal.(75litre)

I've used it before, going along the same lines as you suggested earlier, Barney, and cutting the stocking #'s in half. I think that usually makes for a full, active tank that can be handled well by experienced keepers. I'd cut it to 1/3 for newbies though. It does help throw up red flags for compatibility issues and numbers of fish per groups, too.
