It's a question of personal taste, no wrong or right. Thank goodness we don't all find the same cat or dog, boy or girl attractive!!

if u own oscars dnt take this topic the wrong way as i cud be wrong!

i think they are great, id love to keep one but for the amount of space they need there are so many other things i could keep in it :/

find someone near you who's got one, and go round and feed it, pet it and watch it for a few hrs. that'll show you how cool they are!!

i love mine :D

hmmmm i dont rearly know if i like them 2bh, ive got mixed feelings, from what ive heard there personalitys are brill and you can sit watching them for hpours but theres just some thing about them that puts me off them , but then again im not a great lover of big fish, i like the smaller more colour fish much nicer but each to our own :D

I have kept oscars before and they are very cool fish-espically at feeding time, the get all excited and its great feeding them mine ate whole worms (big worms) and if you put a small live fish in there- they go crazy for them. But like all things you can get usted to them and may want to try different fish...

I have to disagree with andys comment on cichlids-tthere are many beautiful and interesting cichlids-there my favourite fish family, they have interesting personalites and breeding habits and are great parents and very inteligent

They can have a lot of personality which makes them popular but they tend to be too messy and destructive for my tastes. Still, I don't know why they are so popular as they are. To each his own. My Longfin Zebra Danios have personality too and you can stick 50 in a 55g. :p

I also think they are ugly, but then again I love fish with good personalitys, I think I will have one 1 day.

it is a question of personal taste at the end of the day. i opted for a goldfish tank over tropical and saltwater (only allowed one tank) that will seem mad to most people

ye i have 2 tanks but only one is running nt alowed to fill other till i move out!

its a matter of personal taste.

i wouldnt be without my oscar he is great he is like the dog of the fishy world he almost begs for food lol.

as i say to each his own

I personally wont get an oscar, but my borthers is pretty cool.

Pretty hardy too - they came home one day to find it had broken it's tank (they found it on the floor flapping around). it then lived in an esky for a week until they could get another tank.

They know it was the oscaar because he seems to have a tendancy to not watch where he's going when chasing his food (live food). He regularly crashes hard into the side of the tank. Crazy fish.
