What is it?

I got a ceramic crocodile from Ebay yesterday....see Members pics. In the packages there was a sachet of a powdery stuff that came with a note saying if I added it to my tank it would make it crystal clear in 2 hours. Being suspicious about this sort oif thing I emailed the guy asking what was in it as I never add anything to my tanks without knowing whats in it. He replied and said the ingredients were patented and couldn't tell me but that it is safe for fish and woulkd lower the pH by 0.2-0.3.

He also said "I wouldn't risk using it in a tank that is allready crystal clear" (which mine are)....

Any ideas

No i have no idea but i would just put it in the bin. I would never put anything i didnt trust into my tanks and you would be crazy if you did.

Isn't a ph swing of 0.2 enough to upset fish? I would trash it!

you could always get some not-crystal clear water, try it, then do some tests on the water, see what you get......................

but definitely don't use it on the tank

hmm yess there's gotta be some tests you can do to see what it's made of...*thinks*

also, whats the point in using it n lowering your pH if it's jsut gonna rise again when the stuff wears out!?

Fish are more resistant to pH then that but who knows what is actually in the stuff or how long it will work so best not to use it anyways.

Reality check....I was never going to use it...I was just curious as to what might be in it. Do you think I am that silly??? I would NEVER add anything to my tanks unless I knoew what it was...and even then I am suspicious
