My small red oscar has a little white spot on its eye and little specks on his fins. It also rubs aginst the decor and rocks. What is it and what can I do?

yeah sounds like whitespot but would post a picture just to make sure, if it is treat it asap cause I have whitespot and I have caught it too late and already lost 2 of my fish and possibly my severum may go aswell.

yeah sounds like whitespot but would post a picture just to make sure, if it is treat it asap cause I have whitespot and I have caught it too late and already lost 2 of my fish and possibly my severum may go aswell.

Ill try to get a good picture later, my camera isnt in the best shape.

I went back to petsmart and they said it had ick. Im adding ick tablets to the tank and doing water changes.

I think they are, not sure!

Whitespot and Ich are the same thing (people just use different names).

Are the white specks like little grains of salt? If so, then yes Ich. If not, larger and fluffy in appearance then not Ich.

As well as adding the medication, you could also raise the temp slowly to 80c and you need to increase aeration in the tank as the med will reduce oxygen levels in the tank. You can either do this by airstone or adjusting the filter outlet to cause more surface movement.
