Over the past few weeks, I have started to notice some odd looking things forming on my betta's tail.
When I bought him, they weren't there...
I'm not sure what is happening so if anyone knows that would be great :good:

That looks like curling to me, and apparently curling is purely a genetic trait.
 
I wouldn't worry too much, if it looks like tail growth then it probably is, just at a weird angle. My guy has one little spiky bit pointing in the wrong direction. Doesn't bother him at all. After the tail is damaged, the fins often don't grow back perfectly. Just make doubly sure it isn't anchor worm: http://www.fishdeals.com/fish_diseases/anchor_worms/
 
I do think it may be curling, I checked and there is no sign of worms.
So it's just regrowth gone wrong, nothing really to worry about?
