So I've been reading and re-reading about planted tanks for a while, and I think I understand what I need. Is this basically it?

I have a question, though, about the drop checker. http/cgi.ebay.com/CO2-Aquarium-Glass-Drop-Checker-Tester-Monitor-Test-Set-/160412695044?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2559577a04#ht_3597wt_939 It says it comes with the test solution, that's only the bromothymol blue and not the 4dkh reference solution? And what if I find out that the co2 is to high or low? How do I control how much CO2 the DIY yeast bottle puts in the tank? Do I keep it in 24/7? Thanks.

You will also need a method to diffuse the CO2.

It only comes with the bromothymol blue. You'll have to make your own 4dkh solution, unless you feel like buying it. They do sell it, but it is easily made. Very easy with distilled water and baking soda. I don't remember the exact recipe off-hand, however. I think it ended up being like 1/4tsp of baking soda for 500ml of distilled water, but don't quote me, I haven't made 4dkh since I had the 8g setup.
