So just finished some chores this morning, have a well deserved rest with the boys and watch Mr.Bloom - yep that's how I role!

Anyhow to my horror the little ones are pouring water from waiting cans into a 20 litre rectangular aquarium with plastic plants and bridge with no filter or lid.

Mr.Bloom then 'checks' the water and its 'perfect' for the two goldfish that he tips in from a yellow bucket!

My my!!

So then it gets to the point where Mr.Bloom decides its time to 'sing and dance and have some fun' (folk from the UK with toddlers will know what I'm on about :/ ) and the camera pans in on the fish where one is just sat on the bottom of the tank looking bloomin (lol) miserable :(

Ok so they may have just been in that situation for the programme, however children and more importantly parents have just been educated that that's all that is necessary for the care of such fish - *sigh*

And when the fish dies, they'll just chuck its body in the Compostarium. Is Points Of View still going?

Dont worry. Children these days grow up on the internet where they'll have access to more information and encounter the error of Mr Blooms ways.

It's better than American Dad where the fish gives his owner ick.

For the uninitiated:-

There is little hope for our hobby . I know this sounds pessimistic but it's true. There are being more and more large fish being sold and due to earths rapidly increasing population, the tanks are getting smaller and smaller as we get squished by our fellow humans. Who is mr bloom btw?

Oue contraire, I think we're getting smarter with increasing communications. Many of us who've joined this website have seen the error of our lfs ways and gotten smarter to properly take care of our fish. Sure there's some guys who wont listen to anybody, but they're few and far between.

That "Mr Bloom" looks a tad bit annoying! (Partly because of his accent

Depends on whether you've got preschool kids. My 5yo used to love him, but he's graduated onto The Octonauts now.

Wow.. If I ever have kids.. i'd be one of those horrible parents that dont own a tv. Or sure as anythnig wouldnt stand for watching anything like that >.< mind you... rather that than some of the stuff that I have seen like 'In the night garden'. Whoever came up with that needs a good shaking.

Graduated, lol.
Kids here are obsessed with ' the wiggles'
I've seen lots of shows with the classic goldfish in a bowl. Elmo for one...

Is it jut me or is this just a little hard to hate?
I'm not saying that justifies it but still....

That's because you're an adult, MBOU, you've got to put yourself in the minds of the target audience. In the case of In The Night Garden, this is aimed at the Teletubbies audience - 1 & 2yo. It's great for them. Certainly, I prefer HIGNFY or Mock The Week, but then I'm a tad older.

I feel positively edified now TLM! Not! lol
And what's wrong with a northern accent Blondie? Have to admit it was a false northern accent and not particularly well-done - am assuming that's what you were referring to! lol

Yeah Mamashack, he was born in Cornwall lol!

I agree on the TV MBOU however when you just want to achieve washing up or laundry without scraps occurring for attention, cbeebies is great :/

Re points of view TLM'S I'm not sure? Haven't seen it in a while?

What's that in your profile pic?

I quite liked your platy :)

My avatar is my female peacock goby, not a particularly good shot, but then it's not a particularly big area that I can use. The old avatar wasn't a platy, it was a Tiburon's Limia (Limia Tridens), but still a poecilid livebearer. He died some while back, his missus died a few weeks ago.
