What hardware are you currently running on your tank, what do you intend running and what have your run in the past but no longer run?

What couldn't you live without?

And WHY!!!!!

Currently running

ATI Sunpower 39w 6 x T5s - amazing lights really impressed with them apart from the crappy PSU they supply to run the fans changed this to a proper UK PSU this week for 6 quid :)

TMC Aquabeam 500 Duo - Added these for shimmer and more useable light will be adding some more in the future 1 maybe even 2 more duos :)

Vortech Mp40W - Lurvin my vortech but I am running it at 100% so makes the most noise in my tank am planning on adding a second one so I can run 2 x 60% :) the flow with these are amazing but the price tag does reflect it.

TC-10 - Heat controller newley added much smaller than the ATC800 only time will tell

APF-600 - Skimmer great bit of kit pulls out lots of gunk so all good :good:

Tunze 1074.04 return - It pumps water :p not much to say about it apart from it being quiet

I would not live without my auto top off this seems such a basic biyt of kit, but it keeps my tank very stable as I dose my salts in here and it keeps my SG level stable, if my SG level changes due to salt creep I just add salt to the auto top off. a must have in any large tank in my opionion :good:

Waiting for delivery of

GHL Profilux Plus II Aquatic Computer - I will e using this to control my lights monitor my temp,PH and control my balling pumps so no manully dosing anymore woot :)

GHL-Profilux Dosing Pump Unit With 3 Pumps - to connect up to my GHL for balling

Lighting...
4x 39w T5 (1xAcintic, 1x14k, 2x10k) running on a pair of twin Arcadia Classic
Will add custom made blue LED lighting for "moonlight", install my 150w MH 20k unit and sump lighting for refugium

Pumps/powerheads...
-Rio 3500 as return pump I want to increase this with a much higher flow and use the Rio as my water change pump
-OR2500 as skimmer pump
-Boyu WM3 (Controller+4 PHs) Will replace with DC voltage PHs and home built controller in future

Skimmer...
-Aqua-medic TurboFlotor Blue 3000 Will run ozone though it but have decided to wait until I get an ORP controller

Filter Materials...
-43kg of Live Rock
-Phosphate Remover + Activated Carbon (when carbon arrives) currently in sump but might add to canister filter if I can find a way to fit it in my cabinet (but then what is the point in running another pump/unit?)
-"Koi Filter Floss" as my pre filters
-Ladies tights as my filter sock (also used as media bags)
Spare sump chamber will be turned into a Refugium

RO Unit
-3 Stage + DI compact unit + Dual Inline TDS Meter + Flush Value + Pressure Gauge

Heating
-300w Rena Smart Meter
-200w Eco-Therm
-300w Ehiem Jager This is really really long so will be my water change heater

Test Equipment...
-Refractometer
-Salifert: PH, Phosphate, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate
-Digital ORP Monitor
-2x Digital Temperature Gauges (display + sump)
-2x Water level alarms (display + sump)

To add...
Heat Controller - cooling is rarely needed and will be done with a fan - as for heat I don't trust the thermostat in my heaters and watching the temp it goes all over the place over a few days (anyone know if a cheapish heat controller that supports more than 2 temp probes?)

ORP/PH Controller - Mainly for Ozone but might use co2 at a later day to help control ph (but rather it be stable in the first place). I might be pumping a large bottle outside to share amongst a few tanks otherwise I wouldn't set one up just for a marine tank.

150w MH 20k - Already have ballast/bulb/reflector, fit is a bit tight in the hood - air cooling will be ducted in from out of the tank

T5 Reflectors - Obvious addition that I will purchase with my next order.

Auto top-off - Even with a hood the level goes down surprisingly well - need to decide on where to put the water as there isn't space inside and outside will just pull in cold water often - I might setup an insulated cabinet outside to house a water butt and my RO unit. This isn't super important yet.

Backup Power - Old recommissioned PSU will come in to run the pumps, petrol generator for longer outages although wouldn't get it just for the tank, would have other uses too.

Part of me wished I got an open top as the ballasts for the T5 are just too big, and fitting the lights into a hood with a large lid is a pain also. Looking at the setup now I don't see why I couldn't run an open top - maybe at a later date I will do it and get a MH+T5 Pendant.

Currently running...

DIY power compacts
Some cheap powerhead, don't even know the GPH tbh :(
Large Protein skimmer (Idk the company of this one either )
Mag Drive return pump

I think that's all for the time being...

Much more fancy for my future 75G :D

4 bulb Tek T5 HO light
Same Protein Skimmer
SCWD wave maker
2x Koralia 550 gph
Two little fishies Phosban reactor
9.5 Mag Drive return pump

Probably an auto top off system later on

I personally would never own a tank without a skimmer. I think I'd find a way to fit one on a 5G if I had a 5G :D

My main tank is currently running:

Two arcadia T5 pendants (X4 54w T5 tubes in each).
X3 Korillia 4's
OR return pump (cant remember model number).
DIY Phosphate reactor with a 800lph newjet pump (which then feeds into my cheato container).
36w Power compact to light said cheato container.
Large JAD skimmer
Fluval internal filter (think its a fluval 3) just to polish the water.
300w heater
Auto top up unit with 25l RO reserve.
Currently also has a MASSIVE 30 odd inch fan blowing at it to keep it all cool.
Digital thermometer.
V700 UV unit

Just ordered a TC-10 to control the heater and fans. I'm planning on making a DIY cooling system (multiple 12cm fans with voltage control to kick in automatically when temp gets to high and to spin faster or slower depending on the temp).

If I ever have some spare cash kicking about (not likely) I really want to build a DIY LED system to go alongside the T5's just to give it a few high light spots and things like sunrise/sunset effects.

On the Cube tank I have:
x2 korillia nanos,
x1 korillia 1
400lph newjet punmp
600lph newjet pump.
X2 T8 tubes (to be replaced eventually with T5's or hydroponic tubes).
A modified V120 nano skimmer.

This tank was set up in a hurry so using a load of kit I had sitting around. I'm going to add a DIY overflow box to this at some point and replace the lighting (although its more of a fish only system that just has a bunch of no hassle softies in). Been thinking of putting a closed loop system on this tank as well just because it would be less equipment in the smaller tank (2ft cube). Also need to add an auto top off unit to it at some point too.

I would love to replace the sump on the main tank as it is rubbish at the moment. Not going to happen though so will have to work with what I have got (cant get the tank out without draining the display first).
