Over a period of time - Well yes - the fish would starve of Oxygen and die of Carbon Dioxide poisoning.

don't do it, make sure you test, and results are ok, never add to much Co 2, over a month ago I had a power out at home, had no soleniod for CO 2, as our ring main is on two fuses one of them tripped and co 2 just kept pumping in with no other filtration, when i returned home from work lost everything, my tank had been running for over a year and all lost in a few hours, so tread carefully, be sure and you will be ok,

Basically, irrespective of any impact on O2 (injecting CO2 doesn't drive off O2), you will eventaully (rate depending on your water chemistry) acidify the water, overcome any KH buffering and pH will crash. Although some very softwater biotopes have been documented in the Amazon with pH <6, you will find that your ability to maintain stable water chemistry will diminish rapidly at low pH/low KH. Under those circumstances fish will suffer pH shock. This isn't pretty-take my word I've seen it. Basically, chemically when you dissolve CO2 into water you generate carbonic acid, hence the pH drop. In terms of O2 content, bear in mind that temperature that will reduce the oxygen content of water, with oxygen levels decreasing as temperature increases. As you increase temperature you will also increase the rate of organic matter decomposition, which will also conusme O2.
