What Frozen Foods Do Your Severums/acaras Eat?

Mine seem to love Bloodworm (As do most fish) but some woman in a LFS ripped me off and sold me a load of Krill telling me they love it more......and they wont touch it...lol

I hand feed them Bloodworm three times a week and tried with the Krill today and they took a few bites...spat it out so i let the cube defrost and left it in there..

A hour later its still there lol.

Whats another good food to hand feed your Cichlids? or should i just stick to blood worms?

Prawns, you can get the frozen gamma stuff like bloodworm comes, or some from the supermarket, the sev's will go bonkers for it.

Tuna is another one they love, preferably not in the brine, but springwater, although mine love the stuff in brine

Other frozen stuff is mystis shrimp, brine shrimp, tubifex, white worms etc (all gamma packs)

You could also try live mealworms (from LFS or Reptile places) good old garden worms (just wash them first) or even the freeze dried mealworms you can get for bird feeding tables.

Oh cool some good ideas there, i feed my marines Mystis shrimp.

I did hand feed them some prawns the other week but they tend not to eat very much of it

Fussy fish haha!

My weekly feeding to water change routine is..

Monday: Flake + Cichlid pellets + 2 algae wafers (larger kind)
Tuesday: Flake,Pellets hand feed some kind of frozen food
Wednesday: Flake + Pellets x 2 (2 different times) 20% water change
Thursday: Flake + Pellets,hand feed frozen food, 2 x Algae wafers
Friday: Flake + Pellets x 2 (2 different times) 20% Water change
Saturday: Flake + Pellets x 2 (2 different times)
Sunday: Flake,Pellets,Algae Wafers,frozen food

Ive just devised myself a diet like that last week for my tank...

Monday - Cichlid Pellets and 2 x Algae Wafers
Tuesday - Flake Food (20% Water Change)
Wednesday - Dried Tubifex Worm
Thursday - Dried Bloodworm and 2 x Algae Wafers (20% Water Change)
Friday - Cichlid Pellets
Saturday - Live Food (Whatever's In the LFS, Bloodworm, Shrimp etc)
Sunday - Flake Food (20% Water Change)

Well roughly mine get:

Cichlid sticks and sinking bloodworm/shrimp/worm pellets twice a day
Every other day, tetra prima and veggiepro crisp (in place of one helping of sticks/pellets), also every other day, frozen bloodworm/shrimp/prawn, occassionally fresh prawn and tuna.
Every three days or so, large chunks of cucumber and courgette mainly for the plecs, but the others love picking at it, particuarly the ghost knife!

I do 50% w/c every 4/5 days.

I should add I occassionally chuck in some algae wafer for the plecs, but they eat the pellets anyway.

Also never feed them flakes.

Plus I forgot, once a week they get some cooked peas

frozen wise mine like bloodworm mosquito larvae krill mysis and green food. live food they love river shrimp and earthworms . mine also love cucumber too. and a good quality pellet such as hikari staple or hikari gold .
