On sept 9th Musho 3210 suggested i get a small centre piece fish for my tank of tetras and 2 corys and also asked what filter i was using.I asked for any suggestions to which fish and said i had a sting ray elite 15 filter.I didn't get a reply can anyone out there suggest a few that would be compatible with the peaceful community i have got going here. I would like something with a bit of colour.

im not too sure but i think a good aquaclear filter might to do the trick

Its not the filter i'm asking about. Its what small centre piece fish i could have in the tank thats compatible with the others.Something with a bit of colour.I don't know why i was asked what type of filter i have.

oh my bad. i must not have been reading that right. as for the centerpiece fish. i don't know off hand but with a bit of research im sure u could find something rather interesting,

It sorta depends on what type of tetras you have aswell. But some centerpeice fish for a 15 gallon ( UK ) I would suggest are:
1) Dwarf Gouramis
2) German Rams
3) Betta ( it may be a risk , but it depends on the betta )
There's many more but I can't think of them at the moment.

My daughter just bought two dwarf gourami last night for getting high marks in school. I go off my experiance and say. go for them. They are a wonderful fish. Keep them healthy and happy and they'll never disappoint you.

I wouldn't take dwarf gouramis, since many of us have had health problems with them. I am currently treating one for ulcers, and it looks like he is not going to make it. They are very prone to diseases due to inbreeding. Better take some honey, thick-lipped or banded gouramis. These are as colourful as the dwarfs.

And yes, any pair of dwarf cichlids would be nice too!

Thanks for that will go and look at some today see what the LFS has got. Thanks also to everyone who replied.

what type of tetra? bettas don't do well with tetras, i believe gourami do better in trios? 1m2f? also what cories? should up there number really

For a nice centerpiece fish you could try one of the Apistogramma dwarf cichlids. They are nice and colourful, you could certainly house one male, possibly a trio (1m 2f) if you're interested in breeding, plus it makes the male more confident.
Rams have been suggested which are another nice dwarf cichlid.

You could also go for a small group of guppies, Males only if you don't want any fry, add females to the mix if you don't mind, but again remember at least two females to every male.

Other small livebearers such as platy's can be nice and colourful too.
