Im going to purchase a 36" tank, upgrading from my 15g. What would be good fish to go with my current stock? I was thinking maybe a ruby shark. but im not sure. Im going to add some more tetras and maybe 1 or 2 more cories?
Has anyone got any suggestions? Also i like colourful, active fish.

Thanks in advance, adam.

If you like colourful fish, check this baby out (Google Images): German Blue Ram Dwarf Cichlid

Once I have researched it & hopefully found it OK to go in with my tank mates AND if I can get my grubby paws on a few, thrn some are DEFINATELY destined for my tank.

PS If you don't mind me saying, you seem to have quite a lot of fish in your 15 Gal - as my tank is also a 15 Gal. Can I ask you, do you know what your total fish length is (TOTAL maximum growth length of all fishes added up)?

Thanks, not sure about the maximum length of all the fish added together, but most of them are still pretty small and not fully grown yet.

5 Neon tetras
1.75 inches
Needs 10 gallon tank

2 Bronze cory
2.5 inches
Needs 10 gallon tank
Needs group of 5 or more

2 Kulhi loaches
4 inches
Needs 20 gallon minimum
Needs groups of 5 or more

1 Guppy (Male)
2.5 inches
Needs 10 gallon tank

1 Dwarf gourami (Female)
2 inches
Needs 5 gallon tank

1 Betta
2 inches
Needs 5 gallon tank
Should not be mixed with other anabantoids (ie, Gouramis)

1 Bristlenose plec (Female)
6 inches
Needs 30 gallon tank

1 Bamboo shrimp
1 Cameroon/cameroun armoured fan shrimp
Both need heavy current - the betta and gourami need little

2 Amano shrimp

That's 34.25 inches of fish. You're heavily overstocked. You need about a 55 gallon tank for the fish you have and the ones you need to get for the schooling fish. Otherwise, you really need to rehome some of them.

Heavily overstocked? As ive already wrote a topic about my stock, and most members say im only abit over stock limit. Also i have a very powerful filter, and do alot of water changes. My fish seem happy, healthy and active. It may be overstocked slightly, but not heavily. And, also, i wouldnt think i need a 55g, 4ft tank!

Thanks for almost everyones post so far...Anymore suggestions?

Also I'd like to recommend 3-lined corydora. I have 3 of these (best kept in groups of a minimum of 4). They are not colourful by a long chalk, but way more interesting to watch and active than my other fishes! I'd alos say they have personalities!

PS Don't be too harsh on wodesorel, IMHO that was a very accurate post (without of course knowing of your diligence towards higer than normal maintence and frequent water-changes). Many recommendations I have seen also refer to minimum quantities of each type of fish in a tank and this is a bummer because it reduces by a factor of about 5 the varience in spieces you can have in a tank (advice I am gulity of ignoring I'm afraid!). :grr:

If you want colour I would go for cichlids - just make sure you check the compatibility of all the fish before you stick them in and they destroy each other - eg dont keep convicts with anything that is not a fair bit bigger than them. Actually don't get convicts full stop unless you are really sure you know what you are doing...
A few gouramis or something would be great - I would personally reccomend the 3 spot gourami, just try and get a male/female pair (top fin is longer on males I think) as they will behave better like that, if not just keep one on it's own - they are fine like that. Just keep in mind how big they can get (mine grew to 5" from around 1" in under half a year). Dont keep smaller fish with gourami's as they can be pretty evil sometimes.

Wow, thanks. And sorry for the recent post towards wodesorel, Im going to fix the mistakes ive made in fish keeping before i start to add new fish. Eg: Add more tetras, and cories so they have a larger group to "shoal" in.
Thanks again for the help.
