I'm busy cycling my 20gal/uk tank. When finished i would like a pleco that doesn't grow to big (not a bristlenose), and a few other fish. I don't want the same fish that are in my other tanks (see signature), but would like something different. I would quite like rams or silver dollars but don't know if these are compatible or if the tank is big enough or if i need more experience first.
Any ideas folks?

Lynn

PS. Tank is planted with very fine gravel substrate and fluval 3+ filter.

Well if you are lookin to get rams you have to understand that rams need alot of TLC because they need very clean and crystal water just the way they like it. You can try Swordtails, even Cherry barbs or Prisstellas(x ray tetra). Yeah so i hope this helps.

If you have naturally soft, acidic water then rams should be just fine. You could have a pair of rams and a nice school of tetras - neon, cardinal, serpae, etc. Or you could go with cherry barbs. I don't know about silver dollars, but I think they get too big.

If you do get rams, I'd stay away from cory cats b/c if the rams spawn, the cories would probably try to get the eggs and would almost certainly get hurt very badly or even killed in the process.

Silver Dollars will deffiently get way to big you would want at least 50 gal as they get 8inch around (very quickly) and need to be in schools. You might be able to get a bulldog pleco as they only get 6inch.
