My ten gallon currently holds three cherry barbs. I've been doing some research and i've narrowed it down to adding one of these three:
  • gold barb (puntius sachsii)
  • harlequin rasbora (rasbora heteromorpha)
  • panda cory (corydoras panda)
*How many of a specific species would I have to get/can I fit?
*What are the best conditions for these fish?

I belive the first two you have listed do better in groups. You're just gonna have to experience with with. Sometimes they do well together, sometimes they dont.

You should add more Cherry Barbs really. My 12 love dashing about with each other :)

add a few more cherry barbs to get the numbers up, to about 6 min. i would think. pandas are ok for 10g, pygmys would be better,or albino cories.or return the cherries, and get a shoal of gold barbs, OR rasbosas, barbs tend to be mean and best kept alone in their groups or with bottom dwellers
