I got a 20 gallon fishtank for my 14th birthday in may. my dad kept them when i was little and eventually got rid of them.
i bought 4 platies to start the cycle
a week later after i got the water tested and it was all normal, i bought 3 balloon molies
2 weeks after that i had my water tested, and all good; got a pair of angelfish.
A week later i went to that terrible place pets Inc and bought a pair of Skunk Cories who had inside paracites that infected my tank.
the next day both angels, a platy, and a balloon molly died. (another platy was sick but didnt die)
I bought a 10 gallon hoping to save the healthy fish.
i set it up and threw in my 2 healthy platies and 2 mollies (and all the tiny babies)
afew weeks later i decided to put them back
i kept the babies in the 10 by themselves.

I could see the little red worms sticking out of the sick platy's butt
i went to petsmart like 3 days ago and got my water tested then bought paracite clear tablets
i put 2 tablits in the 20 gallon
the next day i found the sick platy dead and the cories were acting weird
-my dad says that the cories are acting weird because they have dead worms in their body

now that the paricite is gone im left with 2 platies, 2 balloon molies, and 2 corydoras, oh and a snail.

~~WHAT I HAVE TO WORK WITH:~~

20 gallon
a bunch of silk rock (in the 20)
10 gallon

1male skunk cory
1female skunk cory
1female sunset platy
1male twobar platy
1female black balloon molly
1male gold balloon molly

* i really like balloon molies so maybe get a few more of them?

I have no idea what kind of fish i should have now. I was thinking about putting the current fish in the 10 gallon and making my 20 gallon a ciclid tank. but im not sure if i want to keep expensive fish right now. another idea is to keep a single species tank in the 10 gallon. and keeping tropical fish in the 20

if you have any ideas please tell me

Ps:
my skunks are male and female
so are my platies and mollies

the guy at oceanfloor said he would love to have a local ram breeder
but they are sort of expensive.

im new sorry, i posted this in livebearers by mistake

Sounds like you've been lucky not to have lost more fish. It doesn't sound like you have cycled your tank at all. Have a look in the beginners resource section at the top of the new to hobby page, look for fishless and fish-in cycling. Fishless is easiest but it sounds like it's too late for you.

Get yourself an API master test kit, and do plenty of big water changes (with dechlorinator)

Don't put any more fish in - if anything you want less!

you might use the 10g tank as a hospital tank/holding tank for any new fish that you should get in the future to quarintine them before you put the in your 20g tank, just an idea.

the people at the petstore that test my water said it cycling. Oh, i have bacteria in a bottle i bought from petsmart. i put that in both my aqariums

which bacteria in a bottle product were you given? 99.9 percent of these products are useless...youve got a better chance of finding rocking horse ... as a pose to a good bacteria in bottle product.
