I have recently bought a ten gallon tank from Wall-Mart. The tank is now ready for fish. I would like to get fish that are easy to take care of and who school.

P.S. Im not planning on breeding them.

P.P.S. It is a freshwater tank. :dunno:

if its cold freshwater then there isnt much choice of fish.goldfish, shubunkins, orfes, pearlscales and my fav weather loaches. You gotta have 2 weather loaches though cos they get lonely on there own.
If its tropical either platys or bettas. They're cute little fish and easy to look after but buy just males or females if you dont want to breed. :D

how about a dwarf gourami, maybe some harlequin rasboras. serpaes?

get a couple of barbs there nice and school... and also they only lay eggs and eat most so you wont get many babies.. although not sure barbs ok for 10g.. just get like guppies mollie plattes.. they NEVER breed.,..erm BAIL!

 Not a good suggestion since goldfish need at least 10g each and shubunkins grow to 12"+

For a 10g you should really be looking at a small tropical community or species only.
If you try and keep to the 1" of (full grown) fish per gallon guide you shouldn't go far wrong.
Have a look at some pictures of fish, decide what ones you like then do some research on them. Find out about their behaviour, diet and water requirements (as well as size) and match up compatible fish.

If you post a list of the fish you like i'm sure people will give you some good advice on what goes well with what and what will fit in your tank.

Hope this helps & good luck with the tank :D

i would say an make it an female betta tank.and have about 7 female bettas in it.some barbs, cherry barb and live plants plus some snail

i saw this once in china town in an pet store.but instead of female bettas they had one male with cherry barbs in an 1 gallon tank
