What Fish Should I Breed

i have a 3ft by 12 inches front to back by 8 inches tall tank is there any fish that i could have to breed where the fry can stay with the parents untill there at a sellable size

that arnt to rare but not to common

and dont require live food constantly

Well, the obvious and easier options would be some of the rarer livebearers. If you have the experience and patience, then any number of the dwarf SA cichlids can be bred in a tank that size, including most of the Apisto species. Or of course there are other plecos then BNs which would also do well in tank that size, but these probably require much effort to breed..

you could try some wild bettas that youi can keep male and female together. but im not sure if you can keep fry with them but all you wold have to do is divide the tank in half and have fry on one side and the adults on the other.

yeah i know id like to but i dont want to be over run could i seperate the 2 ft tank in two so i could seperate the female from the males or visa versa

if you have any tank bigger than 2 foot that you could use to seperate ie ... comunity, hospital?
it would stop the breeding

Are we talking about the Apistos here?
Some species pair off and in some, the male keeps a harem.. so depends on the species you choose.
With BNs (if you do mean them) you would only need one female and one male.

Yes for a pair of Apistos, not really for BNs or a harem of Apistos.. altho I have seen it done with both.
If you pick Apistos, then there are other way of preventing them from breeding.. for example by raising the pH to their upper limit at which point the eggs will probably not be able to become fertilised. Otherwise, the fry from the first spawn would probably eat the fry from the second.. or there are even some species of dwarf cichlids where the spawns are small and fry from the first one would help raise the fry from the second one.

I forgot to mention the shell dwellers, they are a group of African cichlids who do not get very large and are relatively uncommon, but not that demanding.

With the right conditions and care, most fish are easy to breed and that includes shell dwellers. The question is, can you provide them?
