hi what fish shall i put in my empty 2ft tank?

not guppys ok what do you think tropical only and not to expensive.

thanks Alex i want something with colours.

How many gallons? 2ft can be several different ones. As a general thing I'd maybe go with

6 small bottom feeders
6 small schooling fish
2 or 3 larger fish

If you want NW Cichlids, a pair of rams would be nice.

For African Cichlids, a pair of kribs or some shell dwellers.

You could make a decent South American tank with some swords, driftwood, a shoal of 7 or 8 small (neon or similar sized) tetras and 3 to 5 cories.

Is it a 20 gallon? If you are looking for something hardy but also colorful try this:

6 harlequin rasboras, 1 opaline gourami, 2 (male) platies and 4 peppered corydoras catfish.

Make sure you do a partial water change with de-chlorinated water every week. Add the 2 platies first. 6 weeks later, add the gourami. A couple of weeks later, the cories can go in. A week after that, put in 3 rasboras and the week after that 3 more. Then you are fully stocked. Keep up with the water changes of course and don't over-feed.

You could also do a fishless cycle too :)
