I am wanting to get an Eheim external for my Juwel Vision 260 tank (260 litres) and have looked at 2 filters; the Eheim Professional 2, 2026 and 2028.

The first one does tanks up to 350 litres and the second one up to 600 litres. However there is a better deal on the second one, which I can get for the same price as the first and with all media included. But.... I'm not sure if it would be too powerful for my 260 litre tank.

What do you think?

If you can get a good deal on the second one go for it. It shouldn't be too powerful because you can alter the flow a bit.

Also if you buy a bigger filter it may save you the hassle of buying a bigger filter if you buy a bigger tank in the future.

However if your think it will be too powerful go with the 2026. Filter choice also depends on what fish you are keeping because some may like lots of water movement but others may not.

I have an eheim pro2 2026 on a 28 gallon tank! :fun:

I will be keeping angelfish, which is why I wondered if it would be too strong for them. I've never seen the filter in action, so I don't know how much water disturbance it makes.

Hopefully another member will be able to give you a better answer than me.

If you are keeping Angels i would go with the 2026 personally.

I just want to say that my angels love to swim against the current of my filters output, it's 2000lph and there are two that converge so prob looking at 4000lph.
they do however also like to hide in the corners where there is virtually no flow, but this may have something to do with waiting for a neon to appear

Just as an update - I have decided to go with the 2028, as it will give me the option in future to use on a bigger tank (the dreaded MTS again) :p

Thanks for all your advice.
