Hi, I'm looking for a good filter that i could buy for my fish tank. What i need is a filter that will fit in a 23 gallon tank. I'm hoping i can get one that is good but not too expensive i don't want to be paying too much for a filter for 2 goldfish that i have had for nearly 5 years now :D .
Fingers crossed that i find the filter that's right for me.

Cheers Caitlin.

a fluval 205 or 305 external would be a good filter for goldfish in that size tank - 305 better if you can afford it they range from about £55 for the 205 so do some searching first for a good price or ebay a second hand one
or if you want an internal then what about a fluval 4+ i would say gofor the 4+ instead of the 3+ purely due to the amount of waste that goldies produce

this way you can keep up with the weekly water changes and have no problems with the little ones

pippoodle is right on the moeny with this one. An external canister filter won't take up any space in the tank and a big Fluval or Eheim would keep the water nice and clean once they have established. If you get a new filter try to put the old filter materials in it or run the old and new filters together for a month before removing the old one.

Hi pippoodle, unfortunately although the filter that you have suggested is very good i think it cost too much money. Sorry for any disappointment with the decision that i have made.

Cheers Caitlin

You don't have to buy a brand new filter. Look online ( Ebay ect ) for a second hand one. My Eheim 2215 external filter came with my 30 gallon tank in perfect working condition, got the whole lot for £22.

i havent purchased a brand new filter for a long time as honeythorn says try ebay :) good luck

Most filters are about the same price (for the size you're looking for). A new Eheim 2213 (external) can be had for about £35 (that's on zooplus, the cheapest I've seen so far), which isn't that much given the large volume and that all you have in the tank are a couple of tubes at the back.
