I have a Biowheel 330 and just set up the H.O.T. Canister filter from marineland, and i was wondering, because the waterflow is so much, is there anything i can do to make it less powerful to the water (a sponge attached tot he front may be?) or should i go with another filter, may be the emporer 400 or somthing else, please give me ideas and help people, thank you so much!

If you want to spend the money and replace the filter an aquaclear will outperform the marineland, and without the biowheel it is much less turbulent in the water, the flow adjust works very well too without reduceing biological filtration.

A sponge attachment may work but if it's too fine it could clopg easily so be wary what you pick also I'd assume the outflow to be the main problem and there are several ideas in the betta section that may work on a biowheel. I sawe something with part of a popbottle set up so the watter fell on it then gently under the water it was doen up nice to so wasn't just a mcheap ugly DIY

well i have heard of the bottle one, but this is a tube with the outflow, i have it pointed in the corner and the water flows like this > so i put the top flow on the water level to make no noise, and the other one now goes into the water at an angle, and i dont know what to do, what is so good about the aquaclear? anyon else have any ideas?

Aquaclears are perhaps the best HOB power filters available because they allow you to customize the media used in the filter. This means that activated carbon, bio-balls, Purigen, etc. can all be used in any quantity you desire. Penguin BIO-Wheel HOBs are also very good in my opinion, as are Emperors.

There isn't anything that any other HOB filter does better then an aquaclear, plus aquaclears are very adaptable and very cheap

Is the HOT MAGNUM the problem or the biowheel?

If it's the magnum if it has a spray bar then consider punctering more holes in that, or find one if it doesn't

The biowheel is ok, it isnt bad at all with the whole current thing, but the Magnum is, but what i was thinking of doing was taking some fluval water clarifier pads (makes water instantly clear) in the tubing at the end, restricting the water flow, unless someone thinks that might burst the pipe, if so i will try to find something else, but i dont know what else, I have many filter pads around i got really cheap to try anything, i just thought the whole restricting the flow with a pad would work, any other ideas?

i think i am sticking to the HOT magnum, but i may upgrade to the one with the gravel vac attached, since i can return my HOT canister in and py 30 bucks more for it, that way gravel vaccuming is pretty easy :)

ok i have the HOT magnum in my truck now to return, i am either going with the HOT Magnumb bio wheel delux (add biowheel and gravel vac) or i am going with the magnum 350 delux, which is the huge canister with no biowheel but still have gravel vac. The thing is, is that i have the dual bio wheel now, so my bio filtration is perfectly fine, so i am thinking of getting the 350 delux so i have more chem and mechanical filtration, plus i can add the purifier :) anyone have any ideas?
