hi, i have just got a small hospital tank from my friend, but i am not sure what filter to get, can anyone advise me please, thanks :)

I'm not the best at this, but I was trying to figure out how many gallons it was.
Do you live in the US, UK?
I know in the US there's this brand called Wisper. if you get the 5G filter, you can ajust the filter flow. That way, if you want a larger current, or you want alot more water pushing through the filter, you can.
Its nice that you can ajust it and not have it on one speed.

If you live in the UK, I can't help you, sorry.

yeah im in the UK the tank is 4UK gallons, thanks for the help anyway tho

All you really need for a small tank like that is a sponge filter, you can get them from most petshops, and you need an air pump to attach to it.

Ill see if i can find a photo if you want one.sponge filter

yeah please it would be very helpful if you could find me a pic, cheers

there i added a pic link. i got from pets at home if you have one of those near you, with a small air pump and some airline tubing, there simple and easy to clean and good for a small tank, i use mine in my 4G betta tank

wow cool thanks very cheap aswell, ill go have a look for one 2mo

the sponges are cheap, although you need to get an air pump if you don't have one already. Good and quiet air pumps can be a little pricey, around 20$ here in Canada for a 5-10 gallon pump

arrrr pooey i forgot i needed one of those and the cheaper ones are to noisey and i cant afford to buy a quite one so it looks like ill have look for something else, what about this mini filter

i paid about a 5iver for my pump, and the green filter and sponge was like 2 pounds i think, my pump isnt noisey, but then again i have it sitting ontop of a small piece of sponge.

Internal filters like the one you posted are ok unless you have small weak fish who may get sucked to the side/intake of the filter, some internal filters are a little too powerful for such a small tank, when i used my 4G as a hospital tank i had a fluval 1 in it.

the one you posted looks ok, you just have to try and find out really, with filters for such small tanks sometimes its a bit of trial and error!

as BOD mentionned, powerfilters like those might create too big a current for the fish... depends on the filter really. The advantage with sponge filters is the current is very weak and you can adjust it with an air valve.

maybe ask the store if they have one on display and try it. I did that for one filter I bought. It might be good. Internal filters are usually not as powerful as hang on back filters so it might be worth it!

I've got one of those little filters. They are adjustable but it was still too strong for my Betta. I bought one of the smallworld filters and air pump. It comes with airline and a valve - about £12.
