What External Filter/pump For Rekord 60 (61 X 31 X 36Cm)-(67 Litres Or

Hello all,

Can anyone please advise me on what you think is the best external filter/Pump for my Rekord 60 (61 x 31 x 36cm)-(67 litres or 18 US Gallons)
I have a funny feeling I am going to buy a bigger Tank sometime soon, perhaps a 6ft one so I would like you to take this into consideration also.

That's a difficult question. Any filter that might be suitable on it own for a 6 footer would be complete overkill on your Rekord, and the water flow in the smaller tank would be ridiculous.

If I were you I would get an appropriate filter for the Rekord, something like an Eheim 2213. Then, if or when you upgrade, you can use the filter you already have plus a new bigger one on the bigger tank. I always like to have more than one filter going on big tanks as it enables a more uniform water flow around the whole tank if a bit of thought is used in setting up the intakes/outputs. Also, if one filter goes down, you always have the other one providing at least some filtration.

For filters, I personally always use the Eheim classic series, for their dependability and longevity. They are not the quietest or easiest to set up but, for me, their other positive characteristics outweigh that.

What about a tetratec ex 700. I have the ex600 which I'm planning on setting up on my 60l. You can turn the flow down if it's too much, and get another external to go with it to use on a 6ft tank
