I am in the process of cycling my first marine tank :)

Unfortunately the hot weather has been driving the temperature on the second floor up (even with the central AC on) resulting in an 82 degree tank. I was thinking of getting a water chiller since I would like to try a reef someday. Any suggestions on what a good chiller is for the price? Since I will be spending money I was thinking of a protein skimmer, power head and a small pump for water changes - any suggestions? I would prefer to get equipment that will work with a reef tank in the event I head that way in a few years.

in a nutshell:

water chiller
power head (how many?)
protein skimmer
small pump for water changes

lastly, what are some good places to order from?

The tank is a 72 gallon bow front that is running an eiheim canister filter.

thanks!

before a chiller I would add a sump. some fans on the sump and it will keep the temps down. Better off in the long run. Also a reef usually runs at 80 degrees so you aren't too terribly high.

Yeah, 82 is a normal summertime temp, I wouldnt be too worried :)

As for powerheads, enough for 20 times the tank volume in flowrate per hour. With a 72 you might want to look at a closed loop ran off a big recirculating pump.
Skimmer, you get what you pay for. AquaC and ASM make good skimmers.

Good to know I can spend my money on the AC which broke today :(
