Hi all,

Fairly new to the forum even though I've been signed up for a few weeks...

I have an Aqua-One AR620 tank (approximately 90 litres) and it currently has only 10 male guppies in there, all well fed and tank maintained. My question to you is, what other (and how many of) species can I add in there?

Cheers,
Sam

Id suggest a shoal of somthing and a few larger centre pieace fish. Shoal is down to you, theres loads to choose from, for centre pieace you'll want to look at gourami's/small community cichlids etc. Stay clear of angels, your guppies will taste great to them.

i have gold rams with mine, tetras a couple of catfish.. try to stay away from fighters!!! Didn't have much luck when it was fighter vs guppy!!! The guppies get along pretty well with my platty's!! let us know how you get on?

Yep, Siamese fighters (betta's as they are commonly called on here) don't mix with guppies.

Avoid cichlids generally, look for dwarf cichlids. Have a look for a cockatoo apisto (apistogramma cacatuoides is the scientific name I think) or Bolivian Rams, they are both pretty attractive.

And definately get some corydora's - they'll colonise the bottom and are fantastic little fish. Not the prettiest but so full of character you just won't care.

oh how exciting and full of decisions to make.

I would suggest to you to get the larger silver (or coloured variety) sailfin mollies a small shoal maybe of 1 large male and 3 females the way the male courts the females is entertaining and different to watch in the tank and they will mix well with your guppies. Fish that stay at the bottom end of the tank id suggest you get a shoal of corys, a shoal of khauli loaches or some horsed face loaches.for the mid area a nice shoal of rummy nose tetras can be very lovely.

What every you go for enjoy and dont get too many at once collect them gradually as your filtration copes with the new arrivals.

Swordtails are a great addition to the tank. The males are as great looking as the guppies, I think anyways, and come in so many different colours and variety too.

Just be careful. One of my swordtails ( I had 4 male) would pick on the other swordtails. Someone told me that they will mate with platys ( of which I had 3, not in line with the male to female ratio) After the aggressive swordtail died, no further bullying in the tank.

Dwarf chilids are good and relatively peaceful. The lfs told me the bigger oblong ones will go after the guppies.

Beware that not all community fish are freshwater. Mollies prefer brackish water.

depends weather the mollies in lfs are kept in brackish conditions, you will find thet most are not so its best to check, mollies, guppies both care for the addition of aquarium salt if you so wished.
