I try over and over to give them green food. I have kribs, catfish. I try giving them cucumber but this goes untouched (probly coz the catfish cant see it) Pees, But there never get eaten. Is there anything else in which i could feed them.

P.S
i Have a plecostamus, do these come out at night or day.

:D

Plecs will eat a variety of green foods. If all else fails, you can buy special plec "algae wafers" and this will do an admirable job. I like the Hikari brand, but there are others.

My Panaque loves cucumber rind and sliced courgette (zucchini). Never shown much interest in peas. Bogwood is important, too. They use it as fibre in most cases, and as actual food in others, but all plecs benefit from having some in the tank. Even a little fragment will help.

Some plec species need a bit of meat in their diet, such as bloodworms or a small chunk of fish meat or prawn. Try and identify your plec species if you can, and then once you know that, you can choose a diet tailor-made for that species. The Loricariid catfish subforum is the place to go if you need help identifying your fish.

In theory, plecs are most active at night. But when settled in they will be day active, providing the room is quiet. They are often quite skittish.

Cheers,

Neale

I have also found that it depends on how you provide the food.

when i first tried random food, i was just chucking it in. since found that if i nuke the peas then give them a wee squish i cant get them in the tank for the fish going mad. however a list of things i have tried are:

peas (nuke em)
cucumber (nuke n diced)
orange (peeled)
banana (that was pointless)
lettuce leaves (chopped to look like frozen food, went down a treat.)
leek (this got munched on a fair bit by something - not sure what)
chicken (they seemed a little odd - like they liked it, like they didnt, wont be trying it again)

my common plec

loves a whole cucumber chopped in half, from end to end.. he loves the seeds and soft bit in the middle. once he's eaten that the rind i leave to float to the top where the other fish pick at it.

It has a lot to do with the way you prepare it.. maybe you just got fussy fish.. try presenting it differently for them?
