this has probably been answered many times before but ill ask away anyhow. I was just wondering alot of my africans keep on often scratching their sides on the gravel. I have small natural gravel mixed with crushed coral and basically what the fish does is quickly dip on its side and move along the gravel for like 1 cm and then flip back to its normal position, it all happens in like a second, it looks funny.

thanks Rob

id like to know what it means too as mine do the exact same. they dont do it alot, just occasionally. they also do it on the rocks aswell as the sand ...

What you are seeing is natural behavior, it's a sign of dominance or breeding "dances".
