i will be using it as a carpeting plant in my 3gallon nano with some hair grass and saggitara species

what will it need e.g. co2, specific ferts, lighting requirements, temperature, ph ...
does it prefer a certain type of something, what gave you the best results

temperature - 26d
light - 9w over 3g - 3wpg
co2 - DIY
fertiliser - tetra plant substrate, nutrafin plant gro weekly

To use it carpeted you'll need good light - thats about it ;)

It grew like a weed in our "office" tank floating near the lights.
I had 2x 24W old denerle topical T8's over the tank and added nothing more - no CO2 no ferts (other than a well stocked tank)
 
IME it needs at least 2 wpg and an occasional dosing of Flourish to just survive.

For best growth, good lighting (3-4 wpg), plentiful ferts- macro and micro- amounts depending on light and CO2, and CO2. With all of those conditions it will grow like a weed and probably like you are looking for as a foreground. The Tetra plant substrate won't provide it anything, so you may find that you have to dose liquid ferts more frequently than once a week.
