What Does A Reflector Do

Ive just come back from my LFS and they had some discounted reflector trays. In short, what are the benefits and should I buy one?

They go above your lights and reflect more light into yuor tank. Unless you have a planted or marine tank (with corals) they arent needed.

about a quarter of your light is "lost" to the water... a reflector simply "folds" this light back towards the water - so you get some "free" light ! Well worth the lolly.
