:-( I ask this because over the past 6 months, 2 of my guppies have passed away. Prior to their passing, i would see them the night before huddled under a plant leaf and very close to the ground. The next morning, it would be dead. Is that what they usually do when they die of old age?

How long have you had your guppies that passed away? I had my female guppy for 2 years and she passed away a few months back, she basically stopped eating like 2 days before she died, and than she would just stay at the bottom... than she died, it was sad.

i had one of them for about a year.. and the other about 3 months. I'll just assume i bought them as 'old men' guppies

hi,
sorry for your loss, mine also sit on the bottom and dont eat, ive had guppys that are well under a yr old die on me, because they just not strong fishes, :-( .

I dont really know the particular age in which most petstores aquire their fish, but I always assumed it was when they were sexable, around 3-4 months of age.

That is the same thing that happened to my male swordtails that past away last month :-( I had him for almost a year and he did not want to eat for days. He always stood at the bottom of the tank calmly. Then a week later after not eating he died.
