This is my DIY diffuser. Sorry if I got the wrong name I get a bit confused. Most of the gas collects under the mesh but every now and then it lets out tiny little bubbles which float just under the surface or collect on my floating plant roots. When too much gas builds up it lets out a whole load but I suppose that could be easily sorted with more silicon. It cost me about £1.50 for the mesh circle which I had a hard time finding, why they don't sell stuff like it here I don't know. What do you think, will it work well?

I think it will suffice. You may have trouble reaching 30ppm, depending on the filter you use, how big the tank is, and how many bottles of diy co2 you're using...

The tank is 30 gallons and it is a 2 liter bottle. I will be able to tell later how much CO2 there is after I have been shopping. What is the best way to measure it I know you use th pH and KH in a table but do you buy kits to measure KH or can you just get them to measure CO2. I am a bit confused. I natuarly already have a pH kit which reads at about 7.3(same as the water out the tap) but I am pretty sure that info is useless on it's own.

Sorry for got to add at the minute it is an undergarve filter soon to be changed to an internal.

Thanks

There's both a calculator and table on this page: here

You need a KH test kit also.

Adding CO2 to the tank will lower the pH. If your KH is too low, (ie less than 3 degrees), then your pH will have a greater drop with the same amount of CO2, than with a higher KH.

Let us know how you get on..

The man had no KH tests in so I got a DUPlA CO2 permanent test. I don't suppose it is very effective or accurate but it will give me a rough idea. I presume that you all know what it is but it only has three readings

Insufficient
Optimum
Too much

Sadly at the moment it is very much leading to insufficient but my Yeast needs replacing so I will give you an update in a couple of days.

Thanks for all the help
