On June 29th I bought a guppy because of his lovely color and beautiful tail... which I thought was a lyretail.

Its now October 30th and.... he doesn't have a lyretail anymore.

There are a few things I am wondering about him...

1) Why has his tail changed?
I am sort of wondering if maybe someone cut it that way. I have had a fry grow into a lyretail and it developed differently... it started off like a normal tail then the middle just stopped growing and the outer streamers kept growing...

2) What does the black edges on his tail mean?
I've always assumed it is some form of tail rot... but the thing is... in all these months I've had him... I've treated him twice for tail rot and had ZERO change... also... his tail is obviously not being eaten away either as its greatly increased in size. :S

Thoughts?

Oooops, forgot to include a picture! HAHA

hes fine i think his tail maybe got bitten just perfectly to make him look like that or he was young and didnt quite get his tail yet hes still very handsom :good:
like the back males too

The two in the back are some of my home reared babies (the snakeskin in the back on the right is one of the 3 guppies I saved from my very first ever batch of fry).

I can't imagine he had managed to have his tail bitten in a way that made such perfectly even streamers on either side of his tail.
