what do you suggest

okay so i have a fifteen gallon setup and i was wondering what would work i really like the cichlids when i go to the petstore but it just says assorted so i have know idea what they are and ive never had cichlids before but would really like some i was wondering if anyone would recomend a certain kind i read some of the different types and it seems they would do best in a pair but is there anykind that my tank would be big enough for thank you.

the only thing i would say would be a pair of german blue rams. i don't know if that would be big enough for a pair of kribs. is there anything else in the tank?

Nope its empty i set it up today with lots of hiding places ,caves and plants so a pair of blue rams would be good thank you.

okay i think im goin with a pair of german blue rams last question though does it matter the sex of the pair like do you need a male and female pair because im not very good at sexing fish.

in a tank that small, you will need a pair. two males is asking for trouble and females can be quarrelsome as well.

sexing rams is a bit tricky, but can be done. i'd ask the LFS to help. you'll want to buy one with a very pink tummy and one with very pointy spikes on top.

thank you for your help but with my luck if i ask for help they will tell me the wrong sex ill have to print photos and look carefully. the last time i went there there were all kinds of cichlids but i dont remember seing blue rams i will have to go look again i probably missed them.

now, they won't be in with the assorteds. "assorted cichlids" are invariably African Cichlids and won't be suitable for your tank.

if they have German Rams, then they'll be in a different tank with a big fat label and a big fat price tag. Gold Rams, Balloon Rams and Long-Finned Rams are just German Blues after extensive selective breeding. They might be a bit weaker just due to the line-breeding, but the rest of their stats are the same as the standard fish.
