Have been pondering on my 29 Gal. tank. Currently i have Guppies and Platys and 4 Corys. I have been giving guppies and platys to my LFS for a while now but I'm considering a change in what I stock in my tank. I was wondering what you guys think about this.

2 Angels
8 Neon Tetras
8 Von Rio Tetras or some other type of tetra
4-6 corys

Ive had my tank for about a year now.

Thanks,

Tbar

I wanted angels but i love neons more, so out of the two, i picked the neons as they are much more colourful

Hmmm... Yeah definitely would have to pick one or the other when it comes to Angels and Neon’s. When considering Neon’s, you need to keep in mind that you would want to buy a large number of them, because they are a schooling fish. Neon’s also having a pretty short life (about 2 years from birth). I have Angels, and I highly recommend them. However the minimum tank size is 30 gallons to an Angel, so having 2 might be a squeeze. But either of the two will of course go along with Cories. You can never go wrong with Cories :hyper: ! If I were you I would get an Angel. Angels seem to be alot more personable (especially when fully developed).

Also with Angels, if you decide to trade them in for credit at your local LFS, you will get alot more credit for one Angel, than a whole school of Neon's (atleast where I live) :hey: !

If you are going by standard tank sizes in the US a 29 works better for a pair of angels than a 30 due to it having a couple more inches of height. Once the angels get bigger the neons may start to dissapear, though others have had success with neons & angels when they have been kept together starting with juvie angels.

If you are going with corys keep in mind that angels like a little warmer water, 80F is good.
