I know for sure I want to get 4 - 5 Angels for my new 55 Gallon (should be done cycling this week). Live Aquaria has some nice Smokey Leopard Veils that I was interested in (in addition to some Zebras that were pretty), my LFS has some Super Reds (more mature, about silver dollar size) and Wild Guyana Red Spot (a bit spendy at around $20 a piece), but I came across these on Aqua Bid and I think they are gorgeous.

I definitely like the striped variation as well as long fins. What do you guys think about the ones on Aqua Bid? It says they are F1 Peru, but I'm guessing that's not what the name actually is.

Thoughts? I've never bought anything on Aqua Bid before and I figured if I was going to explore the option of buying fish online, that it was worthwhile to check out that site too.

I did confirm the actual name of these Angels - they are Peruvian P. scalare. I'm not very good with the species names, so at first I thought they might be Altum's, which concerned me because I think they get larger than the average Angel.

I'm going to go to my LFS in person first before I make a decision to see if by chance they have any other nice Angels in. I won't be stocking my tank for several days anyway.

the ones from aquabid should be good since they are from wild parents...personally I would spend the extra money to get the wild angels myself...but F1's are very good as well

That's the funny part. The money isn't really an issue because with shipping, it ends up costing about the same if I bought the wild ones from the LFS. Aqua Bid and Live Aquaria are both $35 overnight shipping.

Do you guys see any issues with adding any of these Angels to a newly cycled tank?

no, as long as the tank is fully cycled you should be good to go

Bah. Went to the LFS last night and they don't have any of the Wild ones. :( I wasn't super impressed with their current selection. There were Super Reds there, but only a couple of them. I'm gonna try the F1s from Aqua Bid. I'll post some pictures when I get them next week. :good: I've asked the guy to ship them overnight, but not to send them out until Monday.
