What Do You Clean Your Betta Tank With?

Just use clean water, your betta will be fine

This is a debatable topic...but in my opinion, you really shouldn't use any type of chemical cleaner to remove algae. Those cleaners can give you high ammonia levels, etc. What I do with my decor in my tanks, when the algae starts to get more than I like, is take them out of the tank, and set them in the sun. It works perfectly! It dries up the algae and kills it. When the algae is gone, rinse off the loose stuff with water, allow to air dry, and vuala! You have clean ornaments again. If you get algae on your tanks and they are made of glass, a razor blade scrapes that and the hard water build up off of your tanks very well...after you've been done for a few minutes (so the algae and calcium can settle) vacuum out the tank and it looks great. If you use plastic or acryllic, then you'll need to use a scrubber that is safe for those, as the razor blade will scratch up plastic and acryllic. Good Luck!

Sometimes I use white vinegar to remove algae on silk plants during water changes. While I'm cleaning the tank, I soak my silk plants in a mixture of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water. Afterwards I use a tooth brush to scrub the plants to remove the algae and wash them off with water really good. Any algae that is not removed during cleaning, disappears off the plants after a couple of days. After cleaning my plants, I don't have to worry about scrubbing algae off of each plant for a couple of weeks....which makes water changes a lot easier.

Oh, and don't try using vinegar to clean real plants (even if it is for a few seconds) as it will kill them. Lesson learned the hard way.
