What Do Ya Know About Snails?

I bought a snail (not sure but I think it is some kind of apple snail) from my LFS a few weeks ago and yesterday, while cleaning my tank I found a teeny, tiny little baby snail (just the cutest thing! ) I don't know where it came from and I have now put it in the "baby tank" with all my little fry to keep it safe. Does anyone know if the snail is live bearing or how fast the baby snail will grow?

so my crazy roommate (i love her though!) decided she wanted a pet...and she chose a snail. just a regular mystery snail. yeah, the guy at petsmart looked at her like she was insane. so we were doing research on how to tell if it's a boy or girl snail and found out that the girl can actually be pregnant for up to a year before giving birth. i think they lay eggs (googling right now....). although we did come across pictures of snails mating while doing our research. THAT was interesting.

according to this, though, you should have had quite a few, not just one. maybe the baby was stuck to the bigger one when you bought it?
