I realised a while ago that i had an apistogramma in my 33g, it must have been a baby when i accidently brought it home with some other fish, now i moved that one into another tank fo fear the kribs will kill it [unfortunately that one died when i had an outbreak]

this morning whilst getting ready to clean the tank i noticed my female krib pecking at something, it looked like a dead fish, but it wasnt it was another apisto =[ he/she wasnt dead but had obviusly been attacked very badly, i dont think it can maintain balance very well, its tail is gone, everythign else is shredded and i think thyve had a go at its gills :\

ive moved it into a breeder, is there anything i can do :(

Can you issolate the sick fish.
It could be with losing the tail fin the fish is unable to maintain balance.
Once they struggle to maintain balance they rarely make it. They just get exhausted.

he/she is isolated now

i feel so bad i never noticed it before =[ must have hid in the think planting =[

I guess Ill just have to see what happens

will any meds help?

Give the fish a few days as sometimes they can surprise you.

There melafix to stop infection. But not sure about the fish you keep as never kept them.
I would make sure you can use melafix with this type of fish. Then I would only half dose first to see if the fish handles it.
