what do bottom feeder eats?

I really want to have an answer to this question.

algae on the tank so you don't have to supply that. Uneaten fish food also.

What kind of bottom feeder?Many fish take food from the bottom of the tank and range from herbivors to piscivores

For some reason, my pleco is really lazy. He won't eat algae, so I have to constantly feed him algae cookies. I wonder why that is?
Those wafers are good... if you have loaches (as bottom feeders) get the ones with "meat" (shrimp meal or whatever it is they put in it)

Plecos are nocturnal fish, If you turn off you light at night and just a low level outside (the tank) light on you will see him go crazy. I though the same thing about mine at first. also try blanched zuccini, spinach or romaine lettuce. soak leafy greens for a while before putting in the tank to get all of the pesticides off.

Bottom-Feeders eat live and no-live foods just like any other fish! Nothing differant! Just make sure it sinks!

When I first got my pleco he was so industrious - morning, noon and night - up and down the glass all the tinme (must have had a lot of algae and he was hungry). Now he's a few years old, he's gotten wiser. Why work so hard when food regularly appears from "the blob" that looks after us

Our 2 plecs got a taste for bloodworms and beefheard (they're in the Cihlid tank) now they won't touch algae...they do go nuts for blanched cucumbers

Tanked - yes, I actually got a very dim desk lamp with a dark blue shade beside the aquarium... sometimes at night I'll give him a cookie, then it'll still be there in the morning. Maybe they don't eat every day?

Regardless I know he eats because he leaves the evidence afterwards. Just he seems to eat less than he did before.
I'm going to give the blanched zucchini a go. How does a pleco "sniff" out his food?

That's the other side of the coin I thought about that, but I don't want to starve the little guy... he's my baby LOL good thing I don't have kids
