Hi, just wondering what almond leaves actually do? Like if i get some do i just pop them in the tank and leave them in there lol? Im confused!
Thanks!

Indian almond (or ketapang) is a tree that grows everywhere in Thailand, the betta's natural habitat. The leaves release tannins into the water, which colours it slightly brown and gives it a distinctive tannin smell (which I quite like). The tannins are beneficial to the fish and seem to keep them healthier. They strengthen the fins and slime coat, making the fish less prone to illnesses like finrot. They might also stimulate breeding (if that's what you're trying for.)

Agreed ^

extract taken from my website:
"this helps to de-stress bettas as well as having anti-bacterial properties and inducing spawning"

lol :)

Ah right! Thansk for that! But if i get some, do i just put it in the water and leave it there? Lol!

yeh! :)

There is some sort of special measurement though, like 1 leaf for __ Gallons, double check that on the net.
but, what i did with my last batch was, not put the whole leaf in there, i halfed it so the tannins wont be that much, not sure if it still works as much then :S

:)

also be carefull as they can lower pH levels so be sure to check pH after adding as too much a drop will/could shock the fish :good:
