(hmm, I'm posting this a second time because the first time around seemed to time out and not go through... forgive me if I double post)
So, not too long ago I bought three bettas. One from the pet store that I work at and two from another shop. At first they were all going to be just part of an artsy centerpiece but before even getting them I caved and decided I wanted to do this right. I researched quite a bit before bringing them home and ultimitely bought three nice sized fish bowls. I bought three different types of food, and even ended up feeding each fish what its prefrance was (between pellets and flakes... everyone loved bloodworms).
The first fish death was accidental but my fault. He was in a bowl while I was changing his water and jumped onto the drain. He was still alive when I found him but in the two seconds it took me to get a spoon to try and rescue him, he took the plunge into the pipe.
The next two is where the mystery is. I had recently done a little living space rearranging due to buying my little guy who was just starting to make a noticeable recovery from fin rot an actual tank, not a huge one... but a good solid two gallons. This was two days ago. Fish 1 was in his tank, fish 2 in his bowl. I didnt miss a single feeding, although looking back, fish 2 may not have been eating. I fed them both today, they were alive and "kicking". I went to feed them tonight and they were BOTH dead. What happened!?! I tried not to get attached to them, and honestly... I probably didnt but I did give them the best lives I could, going way above and beyond every other betta owner ive met.
I guess Im just shocked and saddned and full of questions. Any help would be appreciated.

If one of them had fin rot, there is a good possibility that is what killed it.

The other one - who knows.. Often bettas just aren't great quality..

I take quite good care of my bettas, and there are times I will buy new ones, and they will die within a month. I know it's nothing I have done, so I figure it must be bad quality bettas.

Did you add water ager/dechlorinator to the water? Other than that, maybe the were overfed?? I feed mine what they can eat in less than a minute, twice a day.

Was there anything sprayed in or near that room like air freshner, hairspray, bug killer, etc?

To answer your questions, yes I used dechlorinator and nothing has been sprayed in my bedroom for a really long time. The only thing I can think of that since I live in the basement, they got too cold but I tried to keep the water warm and it is just too strange that they died at the same time.
