My danio has had a black spot on her anal fin for quite some time now. It's on the very tip of her anal fin in just a small area.
Thinking that it was finrot, I've treated her twice with tetracycline tablets, and am now on the third day of melafix.
Could I be mistaken in what it is? Could it already be healed but still have a black edge to it? Or should I just keep her in the hospital tank until the spot goes away and keep retreating her over and over again?
I'm just worried I'm going to over medicate my little gal for something that might not be anything at all.

Watch her fins, if they are not clamped she feels fine and it is likely nothing to worry about. Clamped fins are one of the first signs of distress in most fish. South American fish are sometimes imported with blackspots which come from a parasite that uses birds as one of its hosts.

Hmm.. I just went and checked her. She doesn't appear to have clamped fins and I don't think I've ever seen her with clamped fins. It's just that spot that's worrying me and why I treated her.
Wish I could get a pic of it (might try tomorrow)... but she moves around so much it's so hard to :p heh
A guppy we had gotten from the petstore had finrot... had the whole black edges thing and everything and his went away with meds just fine, but she still has that darn spot.
Doesn't look like it's gotten any worse, but it is hard to tell since she moves so much... *sigh*
I'll finish this medication and if the spot is still in there.. I might just leave her in and med her again with melafix after I take the guppies out.
It's just SO hard to catch them in the main tank. Would hate to put her in there, her fin get worse and then have to traumatize my poor fish again.
My danios used to nibble food right off my fingers, but b/c I've had to fish some of them out, they wait til I close the lid before they'll eat :p lol
