Hello all, I have 2 gourami fish in a 10 gallon tank. I've had both for a few years now. But one of them has delveloped a dark blue budge around its right eye other eye is just fine. Also I've been treating the same fish for a type of fin rot and seemed to have gotten better. But now this eye problem has come. Could it be some type of tumor? I'm afraid I might have to put my fish down.

Tumours are a possibility, there is also a fish disease called popeye which can affect one or both eyes. Google popeye for pictures and see if this is what your fish has. Treatments are available if this is the case.

What are your recent water stats for ammonia, nitrates and nitrites? Does the affected area look sore or cloudy/slimey looking and does it have any cottony growths etc?

Nitrate is in the safe range, Nirite is 0/safe. I don't have any test for ammoina. I don't see any cloudy or any cottony growths. Just like his right eye is bludging and its dark blue around it. I do the search on popseye though.

I've NEVER heard of Tumors on Fish but it's always Possiable... :/

It sounds like Popeye to me, in Which Case there's Treatments for that.

As Long as your fish is eating and Out running about, Don't give up on him, At least without making SURE... :(

Good Luck and PLEASE keep Us POSTED...
